#ReadLocal Landing Page Design

In 2020 my team created a marketing campaign centered around McClatchy’s hashtag, #ReadLocal. The goal of the campaign was to showcase the spectacular journalism being done across the country in all of our newsrooms in order to inspire engagement and win over new subscribers.

The #ReadLocal campaign started with a design I created for a landing page that we would end up using for our six largest properties (the Miami Herald, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Kansas City Star and The Sacramento Bee) as well as our Spanish-language property, el Nuevo Herald, in Miami.

We used a platform outside of our in-house CMS to build the pages, so I made sure the pages felt as if they were on our properties’ websites, while still standing out from other page designs we have. I used a combination of photo and video backgrounds for each section, set at full width to ensure a high-impact and immersive experience.
